Not many of my images get tossed out. Even if the composition is "wrong" or exposure is incorrect, I still like hanging on to some of them for the memories.
These three images were shot at Ruby Beach along the coast of Washington state. I finally got the family to take a road trip with me to the Hoh Rain Forest in the Olympics. The wife had knee problems, and the kids weren't prepared for hiking so our trip to the forest was pretty much reserved to sight seeing from the comfort of the rig. As we left, it was decided to head south on the 101 and follow the coastal highway to where it links up with Highway 12 at Hoquiam. A ways after making our left out of the park, the sun was setting and producing some spectacular colors.
A few miles up the road we found the Ruby Beach entrance, parked and walked down to the beach. Nice beach, quite a few people...but the sunsets are amazing! If you're ever out in Washington during the summer, make the 101 loop from Aberdeen to Olympia. You won't be disappointed.
